The European Union is there to end poverty. For member states and non-member states. At least, this is what the people in Brussels are telling us. Recently Volkswagen announced a new factory in Turkey and so some bureaucrats are stepping up against Volkswagen.
We can say a lot that is wrong with the current situation in Turkey. These are reasons that are not the responsibility of Volkswagen. After all, it is the key goal of Volkswagen to serve its customers. After which profitability comes.
Serbia, Romania, and Bulgaria were also considered for this investment. The investment could boost European partnership. This is low-income countries, in European perspectives, so they could benefit from it.
If the European Commission will start legal action against Volkswagen it would be a big problem.
But if the motivation is political we need to be very worried. It would mean that political trials are happening in Europe. This would simply mean the end of Europe claims that they have a fair legal system. This is one of the sales points for any investor in Europe.
If we need political stability before any European firm is allowed to invest there is a problem. If we look at the history of European businesses going global it almost always happened before political stability.
The European Union was formed to support free trade. At least that is what they were telling the European people. By the creation of free trade, poverty would be reduced. This is true. Free trade reduces poverty. But now we are seeing more and more of the true face of the European Union. It is protectionism and to protect bureaucrats who are failing to find any valuable day time activity.
