The Warsaw Pact is death. But NATO is still alive and it is expanding rapidly. NATO and the west are operating 34 military bases in the world’s poorest continent. At the same time is China having its only non-domestic military base in Djibouti, which is in Africa.
China is developing Africa with the Belt & Road initiative. Russia is becoming back to Africa and has quite some ambitions.
Russia is rapidly getting several contracts.
With the geopolitical war for Africa, according to Russia based investment bank Renesaince capital, the continent with the last industrial revolution.
It is not likely that Russia will become the major investor in Africa. They are too far behind. But what is more likely to happen is that China will be rewarded with most of the deals.
The big benefit is that China is no colonial power. It knows how terrible this was for its people. Next to this are they having the resources to boost development.
